guess what

Get ready to welcome a new little bean into this world, because we've got another one sprouting. As of Thursday, I am 12 weeks pregnant! The baby is due on Christmas Eve, and we could not be more excited. So Merry Christmas in June everybody!

I will post some ultrasound photos soon. I've been rather behind on the camera and video front, because I'm trying to make a technology shift. And since I conk out every night at 9 pm because of all the first trimester exhaustion, I haven't been getting much done in the evenings.

Roan is super jazzed that she's going to be a big sister. She proudly exclaims to anyone who will listen, "My mommy has a baby in her tummy and I'm going to be a big sister!" First thing in the morning and last thing at night, she wants to give the baby hugs and kisses. Tonight she laid her head on my lap and listened to "the baby" (I didn't have the heart to tell her it was just my stomach gurgling.). She really wants a sister, but she will tell you "if it's a boy we'll have to love it anyway because we don't get to choose." Once again, Roan has completely blown me away at how such a big heart can live inside a little body.

We haven't started taking belly photos yet like we did with Roan, but once I get some posted you might be shocked (I know I am!) at how big I am already. In some ways it's kind of comforting. One of the hard things early on with Roan was that until there was some external evidence of the baby, it hardly seemed real.

I gotta say, I feel like one lucky lady. There was a time I wasn't sure we'd be able to have any kids. And then for a while it looked like Roan was destined to be an only child. I am so grateful to have one more member joining our family. Now it finally feels like everyone who's supposed to be in this family is here.
